Umno supreme council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi has alleged that Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin was lobbying for his deputy Ahmad Faizal Azumu to be appointed as deputy prime minister.
“Apparently, Muhyiddin wants Faizal to be deputy prime minister because he is the deputy president of Bersatu, not Azmin Ali.
“Surely, Azmin is angry. There will be less political stability,” wrote Puad (above) on his Facebook page yesterday.
Puad was commenting on Muhyiddin’s admission that the latter had discussed cabinet appointments - including the vacant deputy prime minister position - with Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob recently.

For Puad, Muhyiddin’s lobbying had caused further political instability because threats were allegedly involved.
“Among others, (he) threatened to withdraw support (for Ismail Sabri) or non-cooperation from Bersatu cabinet ministers,” alleged Puad.
According to Puad, Muhyiddin wanted to swiftly arrange a replacement for Zuraida Kamaruddin as the plantation industries and commodities minister.
“He wants to prevent more Bersatu MPs from defecting. Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal and Wan Saiful Wan Jan are both eyeing Zuraida’s seat.
“Among the two ‘Wan’, who will be left disappointed?” he asked.
Zuraida quit Bersatu on May 24 to join Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) - a party that supported Ismail Sabri. Thus far, the prime minister has not indicated if Zuraida will be replaced.
