Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan confirmed his term as National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) chairperson ended last month.
He said it was no secret and that he has mentioned before his last day with the fund would be on June 17.
"(As for the) next step, let's wait for that step to arrive," he said on Facebook today.
Wan Saiful was appointed as PTPTN chairperson under the Pakatan Harapan federal government.
Harapan, as part of its 14th general election manifesto, promised to defer repayment of PTPTN loans for borrowers earning under RM4,000 a month and also to eliminate the policy of blacklisting defaulters.
This was commonly misconstrued as Harapan promising to abolish PTPTN repayments.
The deferment, however, was never implemented.
The PTPTN under Harapan did abolish a blacklist preventing defaulters from leaving the country - although there was some consideration of reimposing the travel ban.
