Rogue outriders: Cops who escorted MP's son receive disciplinary action
Police have taken disciplinary actions against two of its personnel found to have acted as outriders for a car driven by Baling MP Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim’s son (above) in Penang.
Home Minister Hamzah Zainudin, in a written parliamentary reply to Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim, said the actions were taken according to Regulation 36 of the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) 1993.

Home Minister Hamzah Zainudin, in a written parliamentary reply to Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim, said the actions were taken according to Regulation 36 of the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) 1993.
“Penang police previously opened a disciplinary probe against two traffic personnel for using their police motorcycles to escort an individual, believed to be the son of a BN MP, along Jalan Bukit Gambir, Georgetown.
“Police also conducted a detailed investigation on the incident after a 20-second video went viral on social media on May 7,” said Hamzah.
Malaysiakini previously reported that police also investigated Abdul Azeez’s son, Mohamed Khairul Anwar, under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) as the owner of the Instagram account where the video was originally posted.
In the video, an outrider appeared to stop an oncoming car about to make a turn in order to allow Khairul Anwar’s vehicle to run a red light.
The oncoming car could be seen braking abruptly to avoid crashing into the police outrider.
Section 233 of CMA pertains to the improper use of network facilities or network service and carries the punishment of a fine not exceeding RM50,000, a jail term not exceeding one year, or both.
