On the contrary, he said, there are those who have been transferred to other states as there was a large number arrested who needed to be distributed equally throughout the country.
“Let’s say we have 13 people, so all the states will get one, we will send to Sabah, to Sarawak, to Johor, to all.
“It’s not that there aren’t any, I do not want to say that we do not send any to Sabah or Sarawak, that is not true because we arrested so many, and there were so many who committed wrongdoings.
“So we rotate them in certain places. It is unfair to say we only place them in Sabah and Sarawak,” Hamzah said as reported by Astro Awani today.
It was revealed in early August that nine police personnel involved in an extortion racket in Gombak, Selangor, were transferred to Sabah and Sarawak pending investigations.
This drew the ire of opposition politicians from Sabah and Sarawak, who likened the move to treating the two states as a “rubbish dump” for problematic police personnel.
The Sabah government also demanded the police explain the transfer.
Lawmakers had urged for this matter to be debated in the Dewan Rakyat last week.
