YOURSAY | Hadi cannot afford to play the losing game

YOURSAY | ‘PAS has to do it the Umno way or hit the highway.’

Zahid: Muafakat restoration must be guided by original charter

Muafakat or not? PAS to decide by this week

To cooperate with Umno, PAS must split from Bersatu, PN – Zahid

Magnanimous46: I think it is a fair proposition by Umno, knowing how desperate PAS is to ride on its coattails.

It is well known that PAS is a liability outside Kelantan and Terengganu. Most of the old timers in the kampungs that used to vote for PAS are no more. It has little traction among the middle and younger educated Malay voters, especially on the west coast.

And as its philosophy solely preaches benefits of the afterlife, PAS has nothing tangible to offer the ummah to improve their livelihood here and now, and move forward with other progressive Malaysians in this life.

Its main ambition as an Islamic shariah complaint political party is to ride on the popularity of secular multiracial coalitions purely for political and government-linked companies’ (GLC) positions and perks for its leaders.

And once they attain that, their leaders become a nuisance to the coalition because of its lack of merits, incompetence, and irritating the other races with their extremist rhetoric banning this and that.

Parties like MIC and MCA are in the doldrums today, scraping the barrel bottom with one or two ministers in the 70-strong cabinet simply because of the presence of PAS in their coalition.

Among other reasons non-Malays shun MCA and MIC is due to their association with the extremist PAS that uses its power to deprive lifestyle aspects of a secular society for nothing more than to make their presence felt.

These multiracial and secular parties would be better off if PAS is confined to the east coast or even wiped out in the 15th general election.

Kawak: PAS exploits religion to the fullest to achieve their narrow and selfish political interest. They select any of their religious verses to influence or threaten their target group.

PAS knows Umno is seen as infected with corruption and abuse of power. Yet PAS is dying to get Umno's support in the upcoming general election. Why?

PAS knows without Umno's support, the party will sit out of the government after the general election. No more perks and glamour of being ministers and deputy ministers.

OCT: PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang will capitulate to Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's demands and conditions.

If Hadi wants to enjoy the fruits of corruption, he has no better choice. Hadi has tasted the sin of luxury and power. It's difficult for Hadi and his followers to give these up easily.

Where can you get almost RM100,000 monthly by shaking your legs and insulting non-Malays with impunity at the same time?

If Hadi doesn't agree to Zahid's demands and PAS has no cabinet seats, he will face lots of problems from his followers. They will be out of jobs which they are not used to. Hadi cannot afford to play the losing game.

Umno is the 'taiko'. PAS has little commercial value to Umno. So PAS has to do it the Umno way or hit the highway.

BobbyO: Zahid and Umno, too, are running scared. They have never retreated from a fight.

Now that they are not only facing Perikatan Nasional but also the opposition, they fear that they will lose in the coming elections. So, they have to break up the PN partnership, knowing PAS is a party whose leaders are opportunists.

It is time for people to wake up. If billions are spent on winning the elections, Umno will collect back billions more if they win.

WhiteMoose0037: Zahid has the guts and principles to lay the uncompromising conditions for PAS. He has not fallen into the trap of the Islamic and Muslim unity preached by Hadi.

He knows with or without PAS, Umno will triumph over Muhyiddin and Bersatu. Muhyiddin hoped Zahid will stop the approaches by PAS, and he can tag along with former PKR deputy leader Azmin Ali to at least survive in GE15.

Ra1965: Umno has betrayed the non-Malays. After achieving independence together with all the races, the country was doing well with all communities contributing positively to nation-building.

At that time, there weren't any ill feelings against each other. No racial discrimination. Malays visit non-Malays’ houses to celebrate festivals together and vice versa. But when they gain more power, they side-lined the non-Malays.

This all started radically during Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s time as prime minister. All the riches of this country are supposedly for the benefit of all races but were mostly enjoyed by the majority in the name of “ketuanan”.

Now Umno is hell-bent on pursuing the power of Putrajaya by working with PAS. They now realise that the non-Malays have ditched them due to discriminating government policies.

But for Umno, what matters is power to rule. For the non-Malays who still support BN/Umno, please come to your senses. Throw your support to the opposition to build a nation for all Malaysians.
