Penang Harapan Youth to Muda: Be sincere, use our logo

Penang Pakatan Harapan’s youth wing has demanded that Muda use the coalition’s logo for their Kepala Batas candidate.

In a statement, the wing said Muda had “no excuses” not to use the Harapan logo.

This was because Muda had officially applied to join Harapan though the coalition could not facilitate this in time for the upcoming general election.

“To show their sincerity, cooperate as a team, we urge Penang Muda to use the Harapan logo for the Kepala Batas candidate,” said the wing.

On Saturday (Oct 29), Muda revealed it had reached an electoral pact with Harapan and will be fielding several candidates for Parliament.

However, Muda has the option of using its own logo on the ballot slip.

For Kepala Batas, Muda will be fielding Danial Abdul Majeed.

He will be taking on incumbent MP Reezal Merican Naina Merican, who is the housing and local government minister and is favoured to win this contest.

Harapan is a coalition consisting PKR, DAP, Amanah, and United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko). Muda is the only party in a political pact with Harapan.

In an immediate reaction, Muda elections director Amira Aisya Abdul Aziz maintained that her party had reached an agreement with the Harapan leadership.

She said both parties have agreed that Muda will be allowed to use its own logo. Muda will also back Anwar Ibrahim for prime minister and be part of a pact with Harapan.

“These decisions have been finalised and made in good faith. I am prepared to meet any Harapan leader to explain futher on the use of our logo and other decisions,” she said.
