Sabah announces RM54m allocation for non-Islamic institutions

The Sabah government has announced an allocation of RM54 million, from RM47 million last year, for Chinese and missionary schools, as well as other non-Muslim organisations for 2023.

Chief Minister Hajiji Noor said the increase of RM7 million in the allocation was in line with the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)-BN state government’s commitment to ensure the community’s needs continue to be prioritised.

"I hope that the aid by the state government will help to ease the burden of the parties concerned in developing and repairing non-Muslim schools and houses of worship in Sabah for the benefit of non-Muslims in the state.

“The state government always emphasises justice and fairness in all aspects, including in helping the people, regardless of race and religion," he said in a statement today.

Hajiji said that the support of the Chinese community in Sabah to the GRS-BN government in the 15th general election would ensure that the state administration can continue to fight for the well-being of the community.

He also pointed out that the GRS-BN government had achieved a lot over the past two years, especially in efforts to restore the state's economy after the Covid-19 pandemic.

"The investor-friendly approach implemented by the state government has brought many foreign and local investors to Sabah,” he added.
