Anwar demands RM5m, apology from Perak PAS chief over LGBT claims

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim is demanding RM5 million in damages and a public apology from Perak PAS chief Razman Zakaria after the latter accused him of having an LGBT agenda and being a DAP puppet.

This was relayed in a letter of demand dated yesterday from Anwar's lawyers SN Nair & Partners.

Razman on Sunday repeatedly warned passers-by during a walkabout at the Tebuk Pancur night market to vote against Harapan and BN.

He alleged that Anwar, who is leading Harapan, is a person who has LGBT agenda and wants to legalise same-sex marriage.

He also claimed that Anwar would be handing power over to the DAP.

In the letter of demand, it stated that the remarks - deemed defamatory - portrayed Anwar, among others, as being unprincipled, corrupt, manipulative, pro-communism, pro-socialism, someone of deviant behaviour, and a bad Muslim.

Razman is given seven days from the date of receiving the letter to respond to Anwar's demands.

Meanwhile, Razman told Malaysiakini that he hasn’t received the letter of demand.

“Let’s wait and see,” he said.

Responding to those who described his remarks as slanderous, he replied: “We will wait and see. Look back at the 22 months when Harapan was ruling. Were there any LGBT groups acting as they pleased?" he said.

Besides the legal threat, police are also probing Razman's remarks after reports were lodged by PKR.
