Razman, Zainol among leaders named as Perak MB if PN wins

GE15 | Perak Perikatan Nasional (PN) has named state PAS chief Razman Zakaria and state Bersatu secretary Zainol Fadzi Paharudin as among the candidates to helm the menteri besar position, should the coalition recapture the silver state in the general election.

Perak PN chairperson Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the coalition’s state chapter has fielded candidates in all 59 state seats and they are all capable and eligible to be named as the state’s menteri besar.

“Razman and Zainol (above) are among the candidates to be named. They also have experience as state executive councillors (exco)," he added.

For the record, Razman is the state plantation, agriculture and food industry committee chairperson.

Meanwhile, Zainol is the public facilities, infrastructure, energy and water committee chairperson.

However, Faizal said the matter will only be decided by Perak ruler Sultan Nazrin Shah when PN’s state chapter wins the election.

“We don’t want to disobey the sultan by naming a menteri besar candidate.

“It is up to other states to want to name their MB candidates.

“In our case, we will present suitable names for consideration when the time comes,” he added.

Muhyiddin hinted

On Monday, PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin hinted that an elected representative from PAS would be made the menteri besar in Perlis and Pahang, if the coalition emerges victorious in both states.

During a speech at a PN rally in Pendang, Kedah on Monday, he was quoted as saying by New Straits Times that Bersatu would offer full support to PAS to lead in both states.

“It seems that Perlis, God willing, will fall to us and if that happens, PAS (elected rep) will be the menteri besar in Perlis.

"In Pahang, Tuan Ibrahim (Tuan Man) is contesting both parliamentary and state seats.

“If we win Pahang, Tuan Ibrahim will become the menteri besar," he said.

Meanwhile, Faizal said Perak PN will be launching its own manifesto soon to address matters pertaining to the state – the function of the state government and its woes.

“We will touch on a few sectors like transportation, education and the local economy.”
