Shahidan contesting under PN in Perlis is 'God's gift' - PAS leader

GE15 | Perlis PAS has dubbed incumbent Arau MP Shahidan Kassim’s participation in the 15th general election (GE15) under the Perikatan Nasional (PN) ticket as “God’s gift” to the coalition.

According to state party commissioner Mohd Shukri Ramli, there has been a jump in support for PN in the parliamentary constituency.

“At first, I thought this was like any other election, but with Shahidan’s participation, the developments in Arau (support for PN) have drastically increased, and something extraordinary is happening.

“I did not expect such an outcome, maybe it is God’s gift to PN,” Shukri (above) told reporters in Kangar, today.

Shukri, who is also Perlis PN chairperson, was commenting on the coalition's campaign situation in the state, and momentum for the coalition has increased since Shahidan joined PN.

The political situation in Perlis came under focus last week when Shahidan was dropped from BN’s candidates’ list for GE15. This prompted the Umno veteran to defend the seat under the PN ticket.

Shahidan will face BN candidate Rozabil Abd Rahman, and Pakatan Harapan’s Fathin Amelina Fazlie.

According to Shukri, the state PN has decided not to discuss the menteri besar candidate for the time being, and instead focus on winning the state first.

He further thanked PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin for assuring that Perlis will get a menteri besar from PAS, should the coalition capture the state in GE15.
