Earlier, Bernama reported that the authorities were searching for the 54-year-old man and urged the public to come forward with information.
The Bernama report suggested that the individual was the "mastermind" of a criminal activity.
The authorities have thus far charged three politicians - including former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin and former Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan - in connection with the Jana Wibawa scheme.
The Jana Wibawa scheme was launched in 2020 as a means of helping bumiputera contractors who were suffering during the Covid-19 pandemic.
