Several Bersatu Youth leaders have lodged a police report claiming false corruption allegations have been made against opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin.
Hamzah's personal secretary Ahmad Ikhwan Fadhli made the report at the Dang Wangi police headquarters, accompanied by Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.
"The police report is to open an investigation into any conspiracy or intervention of any government agency to implicate Hamzah's name, either through (direct) corruption or projects," Ikhwan told reporters after lodging the report.
Using the Malay expression “tak dapat tanduk, telinga dipulas”, he implied that one would do anything for revenge.
Wan Fayhsal claimed that the accusations against Hamzah were “political assassination” attempts on Bersatu leaders.
“(This is) because (Prime Minister) Anwar Ibrahim is scared they will be badly defeated in upcoming elections in six states," the Machang MP alleged.

Yesterday, Hamzah called the implication of his name in four graft charges against a "Datuk Seri" a political ploy aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
"The charges against businessperson Sim Choo Thiam said that the projects he solicited and received bribes were under the Home Ministry when I helmed the portfolio. In fact, the charges even mentioned my name.
"What surprises me is the mentioning of my name when I have nothing to do with the matter. The charges claim that the four graft charges were to obtain projects under the Home Ministry. What are the projects mentioned?" the Perikatan Nasional secretary-general said in a statement last night.

The MACC in a subsequent statement said that its investigations were based on solid information and evidence and it does not take sides when prosecuting a suspect.
‘PN will enjoy clean sweep’
Wan Fayhsal also said that if Pakatan Harapan and BN use the BN flag in Kelantan and Terangganu for the state elections, he was confident that PN would enjoy a clean sweep.

"We welcome you to use the 'dacing' (scale) to sell BN's name. If you use the BN flag in the east coast, we (will) sweep clean," he added.
This sentiment echoed PAS treasurer Che Ibrahim Mohamed who poured cold water on Ketereh Amanah chief Che Ibrahim Mohamed’s suggestion that Harapan uses the BN logo in the two states.
