PAS wants action against DAP for allegedly using 3R issues

PAS has called on the government to take stern action against DAP for allegedly using issues that touch on the 3Rs (religion, race and royalty) ahead of the upcoming state elections.

PAS information chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin claimed that DAP was so desperate that it was “willing to be an instigator (batu api)” by using 3R issues in their statements.

He alleged that DAP was “spreading Islamophobia sentiments” with a recent statement from the party’s vice-chairperson Nga Kor Ming.

“Nga’s statement on the Kota Bharu Municipal Council’s action in the issue of wearing shorts was deliberately made into an issue to ‘spread Islamophobia’,” Khairil (above) said in a statement today.

Previously, Nga said the council’s decision to fine a non-Muslim woman for wearing shorts while in her own shop had infringed on her constitutionally guaranteed freedoms.

The local government development minister pointed out that such freedoms should be respected in a multiracial society.

Khairil also cited DAP senior leader Tony Pua’s move to label BN and other Malay-led parties as “corrupt”.

Pua had reportedly urged Pakatan Harapan supporters to prove doubters that “a multiracial party that is clean and not corrupt” could do better “than corrupt coalitions like BN, Umno and Bersatu”.

‘DAP creating hatred’

Khairil added that DAP chairperson Lim Guan Eng’s statement that a vote for Perikatan Nasional in Penang is a vote to “extinguish” Penang is also “clearly intended to intimidate (the people) and contradicts the Federal Constitution”.

Yesterday, Lim urged Penangites to use the state election to reject Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and his brand of politics, adding a vote for PN would forcibly return the state to Kedah against the wishes of the people.

Khairil urged the Communications and Digital Ministry to take action against quarters including DAP, who have openly used 3R issues as “political capital”.

“People should understand that politics aims to put forth the people’s issues and to find solutions, instead of creating conflict and hatred as DAP has done,” he said.
