Floods: TNB stops power supply to several areas in K’tan, T’ganu

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has cut off electricity supply to 40 locations around Pasir Mas, Kelantan, as of 10am following the heavy rain and floods to ensure the safety of consumers.

Taking to Facebook, TNB said the affected areas were SMK Ugama Al Falah, Booster Jeram Perdah, Jeram Perdah police station, Bongor, Bukit Lata, Taman Gemilang, Pengkalan Rakit, SK Gual To’Deh, Terusan, Bakat 2 and Pusat Penyembelihan GP.

“Other areas are Merbau Serongga, Serongga, Gual Pinang, Kuin Merah, Gual Nering, Bendang Guchil’s Department of Irrigation and Drainage, SK Gial Sitok, Gual Sitok, Kebakat, Gual Petai Beruk, Gual Bunut, Kubang Kual, Kusar, Gertak Nombor 3, Taman Rantau Jaya and Customs quarters.

“Also affected are Telekom Rantau Panjang, Zainab Ramli, SK Rantau Panjang 1 and 2, Rantau Panjang Anti-Smuggling Unit, Tasek Permai, Kedap, Kompleks Imigresen Bandar Rantau Panjang, Gual Tokdeh, Loji Air Rantau Panjang, Rantau Panjang Customs Office, Taman Desa Wira Jaya 2-3, Prima Lubok Jong 1-3 and Taman Desa Wira,” read the post.

TNB advised the public not to turn on electrical equipment or use cables that were submerged in flood waters.

“Always be on the alert for heavy rain and the risk of floods. Electrical equipment submerged in floodwaters should be avoided for fear of current leakage,” it said.

18 areas affected in Terengganu

Meanwhile, TNB has also cut off power supply in 18 areas, involving three districts, in Terengganu as of 10am today due to heavy rain and floods.

TNB said that 14 areas in Bandar Al-Muktafi Billah Shah in the Dungun district have so far been affected by the electricity supply shutdown.

They are the the Merlong Water Pump; SMK Kuala Jengal; Kampung Surau; Kuala Jengal; Kampung Pelamboh; Tepus Water Plant; Kampung Tepus; Pencawang Luar Bandar (PLB) Minda 1; Kampung Cerawih; Kampung Cemuak; Pencawang Atas Tiang (HP) Minda 2; Kampung Rantau Panjang; Kampung Talong; and SK Minda Talong.

The affected areas in the Marang district are Coara Marang Solar and Kem Panji Alam and in Hulu Terengganu are SK Agama Mahmudiah and SK Kua.
