Cops are investigating the alleged Dubai Move plot after multiple police reports were lodged on the matter.

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said the main suspect is blogger-in-exile, Raja Petra Kamarudin.

However, as Raja Petra is in England, he said police may question others instead.

“Maybe we won’t get Raja Petra, because he is in Manchester but we may summon Papagomo, Chegubard and Salim Iskandar," he was quoted as saying by FMT today.

Papagomo refers to former Umno Youth leader Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, while Chegubard is Bersatu information committee member Badrul Hisham Shaharin.

Salim, meanwhile, is a pro-Perikatan Nasional social media influencer.

The Dubai Move refers to an alleged meeting between Perikatan Nasional leaders and government MPs in the United Arab Emirates sometime in December last year, allegedly to plan defections that would overthrow the government.

Multiple PN leaders, however, denied that the move was real.

Just as the Dubai Move issue appeared to be settling down, Raja Petra last week alleged that 120 MPs had signed statutory declarations to back a new PN-led government.

Badrul, Wan Azri and Salim then fed into this narrative on social media, while also claiming that Anwar's attempt to visit PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang at the National Heart Institute last week, was meant to stave off the defections.

Anwar was not able to meet Hadi, as the latter was undergoing treatment when the prime minister arrived at the hospital.

Razaruddin said police were carrying out the investigations under Section 124C of the Penal Code for activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy.

He added that the investigations were being carried out as the allegations made threatened the peace.
