Puad tells Dr M to rest, leave his legacy to Mukhriz

Umno supreme council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi has advised ex-premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad to take a rest instead of allowing his image to “collapse”.

Puad (above) said Mahathir could let his son, former Kedah menteri besar Mukhriz, continue his legacy.

“To remain relevant, Tun M is willing to participate in the demonstration in front of the Istana Negara yesterday.

“After delivering an extraordinary surprise in the 14th general election, Mahathir’s image has since collapsed.

“He did all kinds of things. He formed the Pejuang party. Finally, he lost his deposit in Langkawi.

“Isn’t it possible that Mahathir has ‘political Alzheimer’s disease’?” he said in a statement on social media today.

‘Enough is enough’

Yesterday, Mahathir joined an anti-government rally in front of the Istana Negara, in Kuala Lumpur.

On Jan 22, the veteran leader also held a press conference following the authorities’ investigation into his son Mirzan.

Among other things, he admitted that he was worried about the fate of Mirzan who was being investigated, which he claimed was a selective action by the authorities.

He claimed that the notice of the property declaration instructions given by the MACC recently was absurd.

Puad claimed that the press conference indicated that Mahathir was not upset because Mirzan was under pressure of investigation.

“Many of Mahathir’s previous successes included overthrowing the BN government. Enough is enough Tun.

“Let Mukhriz and other young people continue the legacy. Rest,” he added.
