MIC Youth secretary wins wing's top post uncontested

Arvind Krishnan is the new MIC Youth chief, replacing Tenggaroh assemblyperson Raven Kumar.

Arvind, who was MIC Youth secretary, won the post uncontested when the Indian-based party held its nominations for its four wings yesterday.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to MIC president SA Vigneswaran, and deputy president M Saravanan, for their unwavering support and guidance.

“I would also like to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of the outgoing youth leader Raven Kumar, and the outgoing deputy youth leader Andrew David, for their dedicated service to the youth wing of our party,” he said in a statement today.

The newly elected MIC Youth chief also vowed to prioritise outreach and open dialogue with the Indian youth as part of efforts to rebrand the party as a dynamic and progressive political force.

Arvind pledged to engage the community’s youth by listening to their concerns, aspirations and suggestions.

“I want to bridge the gap between MIC and the Indian youth by actively listening to their concerns, aspirations, and suggestions,” he said.

“By fostering a culture of transparency, inclusivity, and accountability, we aim to rebuild trust and reshape the perception of MIC.”

Building political literacy

As part of his agenda, he also announced plans to launch the “Chief Vicky Academy” - a political academy aimed at raising political literacy among Indian youths across the country.

Drawing from his 19-year journey in the party, Arvind, who started as an ordinary grassroots member, expressed confidence that his wide-ranging experience at various levels would extensively contribute to his new role.

“As a grassroots member, I started my career in this party almost 19 years ago. Throughout this journey, I have participated and carried out my role as a party comrade at various levels.

“This has equipped me with the wide-ranging experience that I strongly believe will contribute extensively to carrying out this new role entrusted to me,” he stated.
