Focus on Malacca budget instead of criticising PN, Akmal told

Sungai Udang assemblyperson Mohd Aleef Yusof has urged fellow state representative Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh to focus on his role in the Malacca administration rather than criticising Perikatan Nasional for not having a shadow budget.

In a statement, Aleef advised the Merlimau assemblyperson to responsibly fulfil his duties within the state government instead of disparaging PN as “weak” over the absence of an alternative budget.

“Akmal’s statement suggests that he wants PN to follow Pakatan Harapan’s past approach when they were in opposition, where they presented various false promises in the budget that ultimately burdened the people.

“Does Akmal want to deceive the people like Harapan did before?” he questioned.

Aleef’s comment follows the Umno Youth chief’s Facebook post, which criticised PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man for stating that those eager to see PN’s budget should wait until the coalition forms the government.

Akmal claimed that PN’s failure to produce an alternative budget revealed its mentality of “wanting to be a useless opposition forever”.

‘Akmal a failure’

Expanding his point, Aleef argued that the Malacca state budget had not met the people's needs.

The central Bersatu Youth leader pointed to Akmal’s performance as the agriculture state executive councillor and cited the persistent rice shortage.

“The state budget has failed to help its people to cope with the high cost of living here.

“The effort to establish local rice seed production, which was allocated RM300,000 in last year's state budget, has yet to yield results.

“Akmal is the agriculture exco. In Malacca, the rice supply is still unavailable. He is a failure,” Aleef concluded.
