A bag containing RM1 million that went missing from a security company van near Ampang Point has been recovered after a motorist found it on the road, Selangor police confirmed today.

Speaking to reporters at the Petaling Jaya police headquarters, Selangor deputy police chief S Sasikala Devi said the bag was discovered along Jalan Hulu Kelang, in the direction towards the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (Akleh).

“The bag was found in the middle of the road and was promptly handed over to a police station for further action,” she said.

Initial investigations revealed that the incident occurred while the van was en route from an Ampang Point bank to Kuala Lumpur. The bag is believed to have fallen out while the vehicle was making a turn at a corner.

Police are recording statements from the motorist who found the bag and the security guards who were in the van at the time of the incident.

“We are still in the early stages of our investigations and have yet to gather all the details. Further updates will be provided once our investigations are completed,” Sasikala added.

The incident first came to light yesterday evening when Ampang Jaya police chief Azam Ismail confirmed receiving a report about the missing cash from the security company.
