Only 'daydreamers' will suggest removing MCA from BN - Zahid

BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirmed there were no discussions about removing MCA from the coalition.

He said such a notion could only be proposed by those who are “daydreaming”, and described MCA as a “core party” of BN.

“No such talks. Only those ‘daydreaming’ would ever make such a suggestion,” he said during a press conference at Parliament today.

On Sunday (Feb 2), MCA president Wee Ka Siong claimed certain “outsiders” have suggested that Umno expel MCA from BN.

He said MCA is “waiting” for Umno’s decision.

Although Wee did not explicitly name them, his reference to “outsiders” was clearly directed at MCA’s rival, the DAP.

Earlier today, Umno supreme council member Abdul Rahman Dahlan also dismissed Wee’s claims.

He also clarified that no party, including MCA’s longtime political rival and coalition government ally, DAP, had made such a request.

On that note, Zahid stressed that BN component parties enjoy a solid understanding with each other, with the coalition also being backed by other parties under the “Friends of BN” category.

“We (BN leaders) will not be easily swayed by others who may attempt to get us to remove any of our coalition members,” the deputy prime minister said.
