Sabah polls: Parti Cinta Sabah yet to decide on fielding candidates

Parti Cinta Sabah, a component of the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, has yet to decide whether it would field candidates in the 17th state election this year.

Founded in 2013, PCS president Anifah Aman had led the party since the run-up to the last state polls in 2020, when it fielded candidates in 72 out of 73 seats.

PCS has yet to win a single seat at the Parliament or state level and Anifah has indicated that he is more inclined to support GRS than going solo.

"PCS now plays a role in supporting GRS. The question of seat distribution is not important. Winning is more important.

"There is no use if I win but the party loses," Berita Harian reported him as saying.

"There is no problem even if there's no seat (for me). I was once an MP, minister and senator.

"If I can continue to serve by helping, I will help. Otherwise, I'll just say thank you very much," he said during an Invest Sabah Bhd breaking of fast event in Kota Kinabalu last night.

The former Kimanis MP added that he has yet to decide on whether to re-contest the Bongawan state seat.

In 2020, Anifah, the younger brother to Sabah Governor Musa Aman, lost to Warisan's Daud Yusof in a four-corner contest for the Bongawan seat, which comes under the Kimanis parliamentary seat.
