BN and Pakatan Harapan are open to working with all parties in the upcoming state election as long as they are sincere and ready to cooperate, said Sabah Umno veteran Salleh Said Keruak.

He said any alliance would depend on fair seat distribution, a common policy base that includes respecting Sabah’s autonomy, and a respectful, accommodating political style.

“The cooperation between BN and Harapan is not mutually exclusive. We are open to working with any local parties with the same aspirations.

“What is most important is sincerity and readiness to cooperate. BN and Harapan must be unanimous in choosing the best ally for the Sabah state polls,” he said in a statement on Facebook.

Salleh also pointed to BN and Harapan’s good relationship as components of the federal government, and said the same should be reflected in Sabah.

He said the two coalitions now work together for the sake of unity, stability, and development.

“Our focus is on Sabah and its people, not endless politicking. We reject any extreme form of politics that divides the people,” Salleh added.

The last Sabah state election was held in 2020, and a fresh round of polls is expected to be held by October, with the state assembly required to be dissolved by September.
