Sarawak premier's wife dies at 76

Wife of Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Openg, Juma'ani Tuanku Bujang, died at 3.34am today. She was 76.

Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and Sarawak Public Communications Unit) Abdullah Saidol conveyed the news via WhatsApp.

The final respects ceremony will be held at Masjid Jamek in Petra Jaya, Kuching from 10am to noon, followed by the funeral at the Semariang Muslim Cemetery in Petra Jaya, he said.

Juma’ani was the daughter of Sarawak's second governor Tuanku Bujang Tuanku Othman.

She leaves behind a son, Abang Abdillah Izzarim, 45, and a daughter, Dayang Norjihan, 43.

Condolences from PM

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim extended his condolences to Abang Johari.

In a Facebook post, Anwar said he and his wife, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, were deeply saddened by the news.

“Our thoughts are with the family, especially Abang Jo, whom I met just yesterday. May he remain patient and steadfast during this trial.

“We pray that her soul be forgiven for all her sins and granted a special place by His side. Al-Fatihah,” he wrote.
