Investigating officers not required to attend remand proceedings: Court

The Court of Appeal today overturned a High Court ruling requiring an investigating officer to be physically present during remand proceedings for suspects under investigation.

A three-member bench comprising judges Azman Abdullah, Zaini Mazlan, and Noorin Badaruddin allowed the prosecution’s appeal, ruling that an investigating officer’s presence was not mandated under the law.
