The MACC has detained a Perikatan Nasional MP over alleged corruption in a cattle farming joint venture owned by the Kedah state government.

A commission source said the probe into Padang Serai MP Azman Nasrudin, which began in February, centres on allegations that he misused his position as Kedah Agriculture and Food Industry exco and received roughly RM400,000 for assisting with land-use approval for a feedlot project.

“An investigation paper was opened following a complaint received on Feb 10, 2025, and investigations were carried out, during which statements from 15 witnesses were recorded,” the source said.

MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki confirmed the arrest when contacted, and said that Azman’s statement was recorded under Section 53(3) of the MACC Act 2009 before he was released on bail.

Malaysiakini learnt that Azman was arrested yesterday, and that the MACC took his statement before releasing him on a personal bond.

He is to be charged on Dec 8.

Malaysiakini has contacted Azman for comment and is awaiting his response.
