Police detained for several hours three reformasi cassette and VCD dealers and seized several hundred tapes and VCDs in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

The cassettes and VCDs seized included those with documentaries regarding jailed former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim's corruption and sodomy trial produced by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).

Two dealers were arrested in Kampung Baru and another at Jalan Pahang Barat at around 4pm and released on police bail at midnight.

Shaari Abdul Rahman and Zakaria Mat was detained at the Tun HS Lee police station, while Anissofian Amran was detained at the Sentul police station.

About 400 cassettes and VCDs were seized at Anissofian's shop in Jalan Pahang Barat. However, malaysiakini is unable to confirm the number of cassettes seized at Kampung Baru.

Anis was later released after being bailed out by a political writer, Ahmad Lufti Othman. He was later asked to report at the same police station on Feb 14.

Last November, Kuala Lumpur police detained seven reformasi cassette and VCD dealers around Masjid India and Kampung Baru.

Shaari and Zakari were among those detained, including two other women.
