Mercedes Benz 2008 Classic Flip Flop

vox populi big thumbnail ‘I am shocked to hear that our PM has given the green light to the T'ganu MB to go a head with the purchase of the new Mercedeses. This is another one from our flip-flop PM.'

On T'ganu gets PM's nod for Mercedes

G-man: I think this is an example of our PM who has no sense or clue as to where the priorities lie. One day the cabinet says it was against the move and the next day they change their minds.

Whilst we have people struggling to make ends meet, there they go splashing the people's

money on luxury vehicles. I sickens me and I am sure a lot of other people who see this as a case of blatant misuse of public funds.

If any of the state officials truly have only the rakyat in mind and want to serve the rakyat , then they should turn down the offer to use these luxury cars.

I mean, what sort of a message does this send to the people? I seriously hope the Sultan, who is also our current King. says something.

Raptor 22:

I am shocked to hear that our PM has given the green light to the Terengganu MB to go a head with the purchase of the Mercedeses.

Well, during the recent drastic fuel hike, our PM told the rakyat that every one now should change their lifestyle.

So what kind of lifestyle are the politicians changing to? We get poorer and they enjoy a nice new Mercedes with our taxes?

What kind of cut rate administration from the BN government is this? Pak Lah, please explain.

Mengchai:

If the Perdanas are not reliable and with the current economic situation and the current fuel price, than as the rakyat , I instruct all the politicians from BN and the opposition to downgrade their cars to a Proton Waja or Persona.

These have less economic and maintenance costs. Or else go for a Triton, Hilux or D-Max, diesel pick-ups for better mileage and reliability. Politicians, please change your lifestyles before you tell us to do so.

This is another one from our flip-flop PM who says one thing today and another tomorrow. If he set this precedent with this purchase, then other states under BN control will also get the nod.

One minute he calls for the cutting government expenditures, yet the next he approves the purchase of Mercs.

If Malaysia belonged to him, he can do what he wants but with the outcry of the rakyat , he still needs our blessing. What words to honour him?

YCS: It is not about the cars, folks - it just goes to confirm the type of government we have, a flip-flop government.

When the fuel price got hiked, the taxis got subsidies. Now official government cars must be Protons but Terengganu is the only exception to the rule.

With such leadership, it is not surprising that Malaysia is going down the drain.

Astonished:

Only the day before this report, the DPM declared that the purchase of the Mercedeses for exco members in Terengganu was not allowed.

Before the ink on the paper could dry, the PM has given his approval. Now who is right? The PM or the DPM? It would be interesting to have Najib"s views on this matter.

Notwithstanding that, this could open the floodgates for more serious misdemeanours. How can that be so, one may ask?

Well, I'll approve it as long as I have your nomination later on.

On 'This Mercedes nonsense has to stop'

Motorhead: Indeed, the whole shebang about this Mercedes (now we're hearing that it's Camrys in Selangor) has got to stop. I find it utterly disgusting that the matter is now being blown up by the federal (Umno) leadership against their ugly duckling Umno brothers in Terengganu.

Has any of these fellas been to Sarawak lately? The PM himself has been to Sarawak at least a couple of times last June, didn't he?

Didn't he or DPM notice that in Sarawak, even a menteri muda (assistant minister) gets driven around in a BMW 5 series?

Didn't he see hat full ministers, meanwhile, get comfortable in anything ranging from the BMW 7 series and Mercedes S-Class to Daimlers?

What about the chief ministers? Never mind that of the 'typical' luxury cars, he's got an array of Rolls Royce's to choose from.

Perdana? That is normally reserved for middle management civil servants and for ferrying people around.

On 'Don't blame Anwar, it's you, Khir'

Howard Richard J: It is so obvious that Khir Toyo's agenda is to sideline the Chinese and Indians in Selangor so that Umno can get back into power. I trust that PAS is not so stupid to fall into Umno's trap this time.

If PAS were to team up with Umno in Selangor, race relations in Malaysia would collapse overnight and all the various races will be more suspicious of each other. Trust and cooperation among the races in Malaysia would grind to a halt.

So Khir, you are doing a great disservice to the nation. With leaders like you, Malaysia will forever remain a divided country along racial and religious lines.

Malays vs non-Malays, Muslims vs non-Muslims, bumis vs non-bumis.

To MCA, MIC and Gerakan leaders, why are you guys so silent on this issue? Your main partner in BN is proposing a tie-up with PAS to the detriment of the Chinese and Indian Malaysians.

Don't you have the guts to say something? Do you want the non-Malays to be further marginalised in this country?

Your silence has confirmed what voters have suspected all this while - MCA and MIC are mere lap dogs in BN and have no capacity nor the will to do anything to protect the interests of the Chinese and Indians.

You dare not say anything against big brother Umno at all. What have you achieved in the last 50 years in BN?

Do you want to see the further erosion of our rights and positions in this country? The non- Malays are now moving from 2nd class to 3rd class citizens of Malaysia.

Your silence has further confirmed that the non-Malays' rights are better protected under Pakatan Rakyat.

Charles Chia:

I am so encouraged to see so many adverse comments made against Khir Toyo's racist stunt. Surely, we are seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

Malaysians, regardless of race and religion, are now sensitive to racist policies and actions.

It's a sign of growing up, mind you only after 50 solid years of racist rule. In which case, it's better late than never.

I commented some time back that MCA and MIC should re-brand themselves and open up to all races and refuse to join racial politics, thus leaving Umno alone so that this racial party would be institutionalised and very soon fossilised.

Then our beloved nation will and can only be heading in the right direction of building a true Malaysian nation.

The next phase our nation wishes to see is that all Malaysians, regardless of race or religion, will rise in unison against any future outbursts of racist speeches or policies by the Umno-led BN government.

Well, they are still in power and those guilty leaders must be made to feel ashamed and indecent enough that they will feel out of place here in our beloved nation.

All said and done, we must make certain and be surer than sure that in the next general election, Umno must be completely destroyed before this beloved nation of ours is destroyed by them.

Ekimypc:

Khir Toyo is a master schemer to be able to cause disharmony amongst the different races in Malaysia, especially in Selangor.

I am one of the least biased, but based on his comments and actions, I sincerely believe any sane Malaysian (take note: Malaysian means Malay, Chinese, Indian and others) will see his ploy as seditious in nature.

They will see that every ounce of his premeditated plan is to achieve his personal agenda, which is to take back what he has lost (having enjoyed pillaging and misusing Selangor's peoples' funds during his tenure)

He should be investigated thoroughly due to the fact that anyone who can scheme as well as he can is often inclined to engage in unjust acts.

But being a politician in the ruling coalition party has given him the false impression that they belong to a circle of people categorised as ‘untouchables'.

As the saying goes, ‘What goes around, comes around' and this is precisely what Khir is finding so very hard to swallow.

On 'MCA hypocrisy revealed for all'

Good Citizen: After 50 years, the culture of MCA has not changed. They keep misleading the Chinese community in that it is better to stay in the ruling administration than to have voices heard.

But if you look deep into the roots, what they can perhaps do is to play second fiddle to Umno. Whether it is San Choon, Liong Sik or Ka Ting, it makes no difference. They are there just to warm the not-so-important ministerial seats to keep MCA sailing.

I singled out Koon Swan as he believed in party reform, but unfortunately he could not make it happen for many reasons. I can only say he is a man with a good vision.

Now their tai kor is sending ‘love messages' to PAS. If MCA criticised the DAP for joining PAS and PKR so much in PR, please openly tell us, what is your stand now? To quit BN?

This is the time for the party to show their principles, not hide behind excuses.

God gives you this golden opportunity to voice your grievances, if you only dare. For this matter, I also wish to challenge Gerakan to make it loud and clear.

You keep preaching good principles, but when it comes to the tai kor , you are dumb. It's time we forget all these old establishments. They are simply fence-sitters.

On Gov't demands US stop 'interfering'

Animal Farm: Is there a way that the world and UN can officially put an end to racism in Malaysia in the way that they succeeded in ending the apartheid regime in former South Africa?

I thought that with the death of apartheid, the world has seen the last of racist regimes where citizens are officially divided and segregated along the lines of race with one race being given preferential treatment and dominating over the rest.

Malaysians of all races are tired of the racism of Umno and there is no way they can get rid of it wit Umno's politics of fear and intimidation.

Though Anwar Ibrahim is trying very hard to take over the federal government and end Umno's racism through a peaceful political struggle, we fear the worst for him given Umno's all out move to silence him.

Is there a way the world fraternity can come together and put pressure on Umno to give up its much-hated racist policy so that all Malaysians can be united as equal citizens instead of being segregated with some being more equal than others?

We are tired of Umno's Animal Farm in Malaysia for the past 50 years!

On Cop: Mechanic was speeding towards us

CH Ong:

According to Chang, he was driving at about 20-30kmh as there were other cars in front of his Proton Wira. Lance Corporal Shahrizan Abd Rashid gave a contradictory testimony when he said he saw Chang's Proton Wira speeding towards him and a group of policemen.

‘I saw the car coming fast towards us and it did not seem as if the driver was going to make a u-turn'.

But Shahrizan went on to testify that, ‘When the car arrived near the u-turn, the driver made a sharp turn and the car stopped because there was another car in front'.

If there was another car in front of Chang's car, meaning that the other car was in between Chang's car and the policemen. Then how could Chang's car be going towards him and his group of policemen?

Shahrizan also testified that:

‘He did not see what transpired next as he had moved from the scene to keep watch over other vehicles and bystanders.'

‘He further explained to the inquiry that he did not witness whether the FRU or the CID attacked the car as it had ‘happened very fast'

‘He did not see if he was being beaten'

His power of observation is so poor he is obviously not fit to be a policeman, let alone a lance corporal. Let us hope that the Suhakam commissioners possess better powers of observation when reviewing all the witness's testimonies.

On Court rejects bid to call Najib as witness

Mooshie Mooshie: Anyone who has followed the Altantuya trial closely will not fail to draw the conclusion that the prosecution is deliberately falling into the trap of the defence counsel.

Not that we want them to, (God forbid, the accused be found guilty) but how is it that the police are constantly falling into the holes set by the defence? Or are they purposely doing it with a hidden agenda?

I am no lawyer, but the way the police is conducting the case, even the freshest article clerk could win the case for the defence hands down. Basically, we see that the prosecution is doing the work for the defence.

Again, is there a hidden agenda, or is someone's hand shaping the case according to their liking?
