Cops raid RPK's house over doc's SD

Controversial blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin's house was once again raided by the police. This time in connection with a statutory declaration made by a doctor from Hospital Pusrawi.

A five-member team from the Bukit Aman police headquarters arrived at the blogger's house in Sungai Buloh at 8am.

They confiscated a laptop computer, a scanner and some documents.

When contacted, Raja Petra said this is the fifth time that the police have raided his house.

"The laptop which they confiscated the last time has yet to be returned to me," he added.

Raja Petra said he was shown a warrant when the police team arrived but he did not scrutinise the document or note the names of the police officers.

"I couldn't care less," he said when asked why he did not do so.

He said it appeared as though he was the subject of the investigations but did not ask for details.

Cops want to record statement

According to Raja Petra, the police officers told him that the Federal Commercial Crimes Department wanted to record his statement.

However, the blogger said he told the officers that he would only be able to do so after the Aug 26 Permatang Pauh by-election.

"I told them that I was going to Permatang Pauh and would not be free until then," he said.

Raja Petra also said the confiscation of his computer and scanner "would not make a difference" to his blogging activities as he does not work from home.

On Aug 1, Dr Mohamed Osman Abdul Hamid, a Burmese national, had filed a statutory declaration standing by his medical report which ruled out that Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan had been sodomised.

Saiful was examined by Osman before he lodged a police report on June 28 claiming that PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim had sodomised him.

In his statutory declaration, the doctor claimed that he had fled the country with his family following several visits by the police.

Among others, Osman also claimed that the police attempted to tamper with his statements.
