Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today said it was up to PKR to submit any proposal to replace his deputy, Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin, who has been criticised for under performing.

pkr national congress 301108 lim guan eng pc Speaking at a press conference held at the sidelines of the PKR congress, Lim said the proposal to replace Fairus has to come from either PKR or its de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

"There is no proposal so far yet," he said, adding that a reshuffle for the state exco line is not on the cards anytime soon.

Lim, however, declined to comment on a question asking him to rate Fairus' performance apart from saying that everyone has got room for improvement.

Observers noted that with Lim not ruling out the possibility of dropping Fairus, it signals that trouble is brewing at the leadership level in the Pakatan-led northern state.

Fairus, 32, who is also the Penanti state assemblyperson, is one of the two deputy Penang chief ministers. The other deputy chief minister is P Ramasamy from DAP.

mohammad fairuz khairuddin mohammad fairus khairuddin Since taking office in March, Fairus has been criticised by many quarters and complaints have ranged from being late for functions and meetings to evading field work.

He was also said to lack rapport with the constituents and state Pakatan Rakyat leaders.

Previously, Anwar openly advised Fairus to improve his service work.

Fairus, on the other hand, has brushed off the criticisms and accused his detractors of being envious of his political rise.

Rumours swirled in July that Fairus had fallen out with Anwar and intended to resign from his government post but the latter was quick to rebut this.
