The MACC maintained it has the power to investigate any public official, including judges.
This came amid criticism after the commission initiated a probe against Court of Appeal judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali following a blog post claiming that he had unexplained wealth.
Nazlan was the judge who convicted former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak of corruption.
Pakatan Harapan reminded Putrajaya that ensuring judicial independence is part of the terms set out in the memorandum of understanding with the government.
Yesterday, Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat said the attacks against the judiciary had gone overboard.

Submarine deal
Putrajaya was urged to take action after defence group Thales was charged by a French judge for complicity in bribery over the sale of Scorpene submarines to Malaysia.
Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has also pushed Putrajaya to state its position on the matter.
Najib Abdul Razak was the defence minister at the time.
The MACC questioned Najib in 2018 about the Scorpene deal, but no charges were filed.

Harapan-Bersatu ties
DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke reminded the party's Pakatan Harapan partners that there must be a consensus if they were to strike any deal with Bersatu, which in 2020 turned against the coalition.
Describing it as a ”major decision”, Loke said he hoped there won't be a repeat of the Malacca polls where PKR and Amanah fielded former Umno leaders as election candidates despite DAP's objections.
Meanwhile, in Kelantan, the state chapter Amanah revealed the formation of a state-level alliance called Angkatan Amanah Merdeka Rakyat Kelantan.
It will be led by Umno's Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah in cooperation with Amanah with the goal of ousting the PAS-led government.
Umno distanced itself from Tengku Razaleigh's move, stating that it was done in his personal capacity.
