Tajuddin unleashes on Zahid

Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman lashed out at Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in a press conference, three days after he was removed as a supreme council member.

The outspoken and brash MP branded Zahid a liability, warning doom for Umno if he is not ousted.

Tajuddin did not rule out contesting the 15th general election under a PAS ticket if he is also sacked from Umno.

The Pasir Salak MP, who was appointed as Malaysia's ambassador to Indonesia, is aligned with the Umno faction that holds positions in government while Zahid and his allies who are not in government are in a separate faction pushing for early polls.

Guan Eng's team says sorry

DAP's Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng's lawyer had to apologise in court over a sub judice complaint against Lim.

This was after Lim publicly denied corruption allegations against him made in court and called it a political conspiracy.

The judge gave Lim an earful and said she was disappointed at him for commenting on court matters outside of court.

Simultaneous polls

PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution said he is open to DAP's proposal for Pakatan Harapan states to hold simultaneous polls with the general election if Parliament is dissolved after November.

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke made the proposal in view of the general election still not being called, which means if the state polls are called separately, there will only be a small gap with the general election.

Loke had expressed concern that voters may not want to return home to vote twice in a short time span.

  • Umno's Mohd Puad Zarkashi downplayed the removal of dissenting leaders from the Umno supreme council, stating that the party had survived despite past reshuffles.

  • Political economist Edmund Terence Gomez, who previously served on a MACC oversight committee, said it is time for the MACC to have an ”arm's length” relationship with the executive, especially with regard to the appointment of its top commissioners.

  • Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said a national strategic plan will be tabled in cabinet to address increasing instances of child malnutrition due to poverty.
