Perlis Move bites Muhyiddin
A political struggle in the smallest state in the country has had major unintended consequences.
Bersatu usurped the PAS menteri besar in Perlis, and in retaliation, PAS leaders threatened to revolt.
Faced with the possibility of Perikatan Nasional falling apart and losing all the support that comes with PAS, Muhyiddin Yassin moved to ease tensions.
His solution? Resign as coalition chief and open the door for PAS to take over PN.
Immediately, PAS changed their tone while making it clear that they would be seizing the opportunity before them.
Meanwhile, Muhyiddin loyalists in Bersatu, including Azmin Ali, are also resigning from key PN posts, though there are inklings that this is less than magnanimous.

Target painted on Apandi
Najib Abdul Razak’s conviction in the 1MDB scandal has led to questions.
What about former attorney-general Apandi Ali’s role in allegedly covering up the scandal?
Apandi had infamously stymied investigations against Najib and even declared it “case closed”.
Two DAP leaders point out that police had initiated an investigation into Apandi two years ago, but that there have been no updates since.
However, former Klang MP Charles Santiago noted that Apandi wasn’t the only person who enabled Najib.
