Why did Saravanan write to PM over MACC probe?
MIC deputy president M Saravanan raised eyebrows when he revealed that he had appealed to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim over an MACC probe against him.
Saravanan, who has claimed trial to a charge of receiving RM1.1 million in bribes to approve foreign worker quotas, clarified that he wanted a fair probe, not a cover-up.
However, it raises questions as to Anwar’s involvement in MACC probes. The premier had in the past denied having influence over such matters.
In Saravanan’s case, Anwar said he had not received the letter, despite the former saying he had sent it to Anwar’s personal WhatsApp number among other channels.

Now Sedition Act can be abolished too?
Meanwhile, Anwar’s is chugging along with promises to deliver long-delayed reforms.
In a speech with students, he called for colonial-era laws to be abolished, saying Malaysia must shed legal remnants that restrict the freedom and participation of its people.
Among colonial-era laws still in force is the Sedition Act 1948, which his key lieutenant, Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, has defended the use of.
The cabinet last gave a green light to amend the law two years ago.

Will PKR gambling defence hurt Anwar’s new blue-eyed boy?
Anwar and PKR have been hitting back at Perikatan Nasional over a challenge for the premier to ban gambling in Kedah, by highlighting the rise in special draws when PN was in power.
The prime minister in a speech, told PN to look themselves in the mirror over the increase of special draws from eight to 22 a year - a number which he reversed once he took office.
However, there is one issue. The person who signed off on increasing the special draw was then finance minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz.
Tengku Zafrul is now a key confidant of Anwar’s and has even been tasked with laying the ground to wrest the Pandan parliament seat from estranged sidekick Rafizi Ramli.
