  • I very much appreciated the letter recently by AB Sulaiman titled Does Islam Allow Apostasy?

The answer, it seems, is: 'Technically 'yes' but practically, 'no'.'

My observation is simple. If God is all powerful, why does his religion need to be defended by people who think that no one should be allowed to leave Islam?

Would it not be better to allow God Himself to deal with apostates? It seems to me that a perfect religion does not need human defenders. If anyone chooses to leave Islam, do they not suffer the consequences in eternity?

At least while they live, there is hope of winning them back. If they are killed, for whatever reason, that hope is forever gone.
