I am disturbed there is a perception amongst some Muslims that the rise in terrorism in the world has its roots in America's unfair policy towards the Palestinians. The idea that a Muslim is led to become a suicide bomber in another country because of the plight of the Palestinians is simply not logical.

The terrorist murders in Beslan, Bali, Madrid and southern Thailand had nothing to do with the Palestinian struggle. Of course, the Palestinian issue is a convenient bogey for some Muslim governments who want to divert attention from their own misrule and despotism.

How do killings by suicide bombers in Iraq on a daily basis constitute helping the 'ummah' or the Palestinians? Terrorists appear simply to want to spread chaos and make Iraq ungovernable. How can they claim to be Muslims when they murder innocent people at mosques, wedding celebrations etc, in such an indiscriminate manner?

Fair Muslim has a rose-tinted view of terrorists and sees them being guided by the Quran. The fact is that they terrorists have their own narrow agenda and no real compassion for anyone.

The sponsors of terrorism recruit young and impressionable people and brainwash them using wrong Quranic interpretations as justifications for performing these heinous acts.

I feel that the Quran should be interpreted in the right context and its overall message taken into account and not read selectively as there are numerous verses in the Quran which encourages peace between people.
