We here in Penang have been reading in the media about the debates taking place in the Penang state legislative assembly.
It is disappointing to note that instead of legislating or setting policies, our honourable state assemblymen are more interested in moaning and complaining.
These YBs, whom we voted in to represent our interests, should help make our miserable lives more bearable by implementing policies and strategies so that our island state becomes more liveable.
But instead, the state legislative assembly is turned into a platform for one complaint after another by them! We hear them talk and complain about faulty signboards, dirty streets, clogged drains and the miserable bus service.
Excuse us YBs, we all know what's wrong with our island. You are the policy makers. You are supposed to tell us how you intend to run the state. You guys are supposed to fix the problems. Not just complain about them. That's our job.
We know the damn mini-buses don't work. We know the tolls and fare increase are unfair. We know about the congestions on the streets. We know the bridge concessionaire didn't live up to its promise to add two more lanes. We know the island is in a sham, is dirty and the situation is getting from a bad to worse.
What are the YBs going to do in order to fix Penang? Another multimillion ringgit study to document the shame we are living in?
