It is most regrettable that Christians in Malaysia - a plural society - have to stamp their Bahasa Malaysia Bibles with the caveat, 'Not for Muslims'.

This kind of obscurantist anti-knowledge policy will only accentuate and sharpen the communal polarisation which is bedevilling our beloved country.

Were the leaders of the other faiths to petition the government to limit access to the Quran and other Islamic books only to the Muslims, would it gazette an appropriate order? The answer would surely be in the negative.

Which only shows that even after 47 seven years of independence, the leadership is not serious about communal harmony.
