When malaysiakini published a reader's opinion that somehow hurt the feelings of Umno Youth in 2003, the latter immediately lodged a police report. Without wasting a second, the police raided malaysiakini's office and seized all 17 computers and two servers.
The sin (publication of the letter) was too big, so it was seemed by some quarters then. Umno Youth was equated with the Ku Klux Klan, and the letter writer offered some relevant arguments on the Malay privileges issue.
Ironically, when a mainstream and Umno-owned newspaper, the New Straits Times published an offensive cartoon that was obviously blasphemous of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and Islam, Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi - the advocate of Islam Hadhari - simply forgave it.
Similar offenders like RTM and TV3 also likely to get away with a similar offence. Unfortunately, The Sarawak Tribune and Guangming Daily which are not owned by Umno were severely punished.
It makes me wonder whether the image of Umno Youth is actually above that of Prophet Muhammad's, at least in this 'Islamic state of Malaysia' that practices Islam Hadhari?
