Pua wants audit
1.30pm: Former DAP lawmaker Tony Pua calls for Bank Negara Malaysia and the MACC to audit the crowdfunding initiative set up by Umno to pay Najib’s RM50 million fine.

In a Facebook post, Pua says the audit is necessary to ensure that the funds raised are legitimate and “not laundered”.
Asserting that the funds could have been used to help ordinary citizens instead of “freeing Malaysia’s most corrupt,” Pua says it is time for the rakyat to “once again see Umno/BN’s true colours”.
Home arrest order on the way to Kajang Prison
1.25pm: Najib's lawyer Farhan Shafee says that with the fine paid, the courts have issued a house arrest order, pursuant to the Pardons Board decision.
The order is being delivered to the Kajang prison to secure the former prime minister’s transfer back home.

He says he expects the process to be completed today.
DAP chief expected to step down as minister
1.05pm: With Najib expected to be released today, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke’s time as transport minister is also expected to end.
Loke tendered his resignation in September in protest of Najib’s house arrest clemency.
However, he was convinced by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to wait until Najib is released from prison.
He previously said his last day as minister would be when Najib goes home.
House arrest conditions unknown
1pm: However, one point of contention remains: What exactly are the terms of his house arrest?
Lawyer Shafee Abdullah said previously that Najib had been briefed on the SOPs, but was told to keep it secret.

It is understood that the terms for the former premier’s home confinement are not the same as rules being drafted by the government for future house arrest of other prisoners.
Najib’s house arrest sentence runs until Aug 23, 2028. He is still on the hook for the 1MDB case and will have to return to prison after the house arrest sentence ends unless he can secure a stay of execution or have his conviction overturned.
Najib’s fine paid with donations
12.50pm: Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki confirms that the payment was made today.
He says that the fine was paid using donations that the party collected.

Najib’s lawyer Farhan Shafee was earlier spotted making the payment at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex at 12.10pm.
Meanwhile, police are already on standby at Najib’s house on Jalan Langgak Duta, Kuala Lumpur, and have begun controlling access to the area.
As part of the government, the DAP has enabled the release of NR.
This Madani govt. has to take absolute responsibility for bending backwards for Najib, throwing its famous mantra about fighting corruption in the dustbin. That includes UMNO, PKR in particular, DAP and Amanah. It is so unlike Mahathir's govt that stood its ground, charged and imprisioned the world's kleptocrat to show the whole world it means business. Now thanks to this govt, Najib can relax in the comfort of his home with SOP only known to him, thanks to the confidentiality upheld by this govt, thereby replacing it with transparency. I hope voters will show their disappointment and anger at the next GE by throwing all of them out because if they come in corruption will be the norm. It is time for the voters to show their power. Malacca voters, now is your time to exercise your power and elect Bersama or any other party but the ruling party to send a clear message that corruption does not end with imprisonment, it includes staying in prison and serving the full term.
A MESSAGE TO ALL MALAYSIANS — HOW MUCH MORE CAN WE ACCEPT?ANOTHER SAD DAY HERE! Unbelievable! What kind of justice are we witnessing in our own country? When a leader convicted of serious offences appears to receive special consideration over imprisonment and questions remain over the substantial money paid to the court, Malaysians have every right to demand answers. Where did the money come from? Has its source been properly scrutinised by SPRM/MACC and LHDN? Are the same laws and standards applied to ordinary citizens? This is not about politics or supporting any particular party. It is about justice, integrity, accountability and the future of Malaysia. If ordinary Malaysians must face the full consequences of their actions, why should powerful individuals be treated differently? We must not allow public accountability to become a matter of political convenience. Malaysia belongs to all Malaysians, not to those who hold power. Wake up, Malaysia. We deserve transparency, equal justice and leaders who are accountable to the people!
