I read with disgust at the way the BN took over power of Perak through undemocratic means. As an Umno member, I find the act despicable especially with the deputy prime minister and prime minister-in-waiting stooping so low as to do this despicable act.
What's more, he's getting the support from the two former PR members who are being charged in court for corruption! It seems to me that our Umno leaders are not only condoning but supporting them in this act of corruption by inviting them over for their support.
Our Umno leaders criticised Anwar Ibrahim earlier when he attempted to seize power through undemocratic means. But by seizing power now in Perak this is the same act that Umno is doing, supported by all parties in BN.
I feel ashamed that the very act our leaders criticised others for is being done by these same leaders themselves. This is hypocrisy of the highest order.
I would believe that dissolving the Perak state assembly and going for elections is the best approach to settle the situation.
Even if Umno were to lose, I can still hold my head up high for we lost through democratic means and not through a party-hopping approach.
I am also sad that the Perak Sultan whom we respect so much was not agreeable to the dissolution of the Perak state assembly for reasons His Highness knows best.
This is viewed as not listening to the rakyat's wishes and condoning Umno's act of seizing power.
This will bring more political turmoil to Perak and a political crisis is looming as now. We would expect to see more protests and anger from the rakyat. I beseech His Highness to reconsider the decision and to allow for fresh elections so that the rakyat can choose their leaders for the state.
All I can say is that Umno will be badly impacted in the next general election.
As for myself and my other kinsman, our votes will definitely not go to BN unless the BN leadership, especially Umno’s, takes a serious look at changing their ways to be acceptable to the rakyat and removing all those corrupted and questionable leaders.
