People's Progressive Party president M Kayveas wants troublemaker T Murugiah to form his own party and not to create problems for PPP.

Kayveas said that the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Murugiah should just form his own party so that he can be the president of that party.

"I challenge him... if he's so good, why not form another party and stop disturbing PPP. He can become the president of the new party instead of creating all kinds of problems in PPP," Kayveas was reported by Bernama as telling reporters after attending the Pahang PPP AGM today.

"Before this he (Murugiah) went to see the Registrar of Societies (ROS) and asked the ROS to deregister the party, now all of a sudden he was appointed the president. Is this lawful?" he asked.

The meeting, attended by about 1,760 delegates from 778 PPP branches, also passed a vote of no-confidence against Kayveas. They also overturned a decision to sack Murugiah.

Following the meeting, Murugiah told reporters that he would be meeting ROS today to stake his claim as the new president.

Kayveas today downplayed the situation and said that the emergency meeting yesterday was invalid. He added that he was still the rightful PPP president.

"The meeting is invalid... but I rather not comment anymore. He has been sacked from the party," he said.

Meeting attended by non-members

He also brushed aside the significance of the meeting, stating that it was just an ordinary meeting which was attended by non-members.

He claimed that Murugiah had turned it into an extraordinary general meeting to suit his plans.

"You need a proper election to vote for the president of the party, not just create a crowd and call it an extraordinary general meeting," he said.

He said that the party would take action against party members who had taken part in the meeting.

Kayveas also said PPP's 56th annual general meeting would proceed as scheduled on June 7.

Murugiah meanwhile told Malaysiakini that he would be meeting the ROS later today to inform him of the resolutions passed at the meeting yesterday. He also insisted that the meeting was valid.

He had tricked the participants

In a later development, reports Humayun Kabir , Kayveas alleged that Murugiah had "tricked the crowd into coming for the meet which was supposed to be an Indian agro-entrepreneurs programme organised for the benefit of the Indian community".

"We have feedback that people who have been tricked to come were from Kimma (Congress of Malaysian Indian Muslims), the Kuala Lumpur Taxi Drivers Association and others from Taiping, Teluk Intan and other towns," he told Malaysiakini .

He also claimed that each participant was offered RM50 to attend the meeting.

Kayveas also said that Murugiah's political demise was imminent if he has only until May 30 to appeal against his sacking from the party.

"Murugiah cannot always hoodwink the public and the media with his bombastic, illogical and senseless dramas which are spiked with lies... the truth will always prevail and people will soon come to understand his true character," added the former Taiping member of parliament.

He also said that no one - including Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak - would back a person who has been sacked from his own party.
