Kedah Sultan Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam has agreed with Pakatan Rakyat's request to have Lunas assemblyperson Mohd Radzhi Salleh removed from his position as an executive councillor.

On Sunday, the elected rep declared himself an independent and resigned from all positions in PKR, saying that he has lost faith in the party's leadership.

Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak said the sultan's decision has been conveyed to Radhzi through his personal aide.

He added that the sultan has also agreed to the appointment of PKR's Kulim rep Lim Soo Nee to fill in the vacant exco slot.

"The decision had been relayed to Mohd Radzhi via his personal assistant as he was not in office. The Deputy State Secretary had been directed to inform Mohd Radzhi that he had been dropped from the exco post effective Aug 25," Azizan told journalists today.

On Sunday, Mohd Radzhi announced that he had quit PKR and all party posts and declared himself an independent assemblyman as he had lost confidence in the party leadership.

Lim to be sworn in next week

Azizan said the sultan had also consented to the appointment of Kulim state assemblyperson Lim Soo Nee of PKR to fill the vacant exco post.

"The swearing-in ceremony will be held next week as many officers are still abroad. We must also check Tuanku's calendar."

The menteri besar said he would discuss with the state secretary on whether to add or change the exco portfolios adding that he would be holding the vacant post until the swearing-in ceremony.

Meanwhile, Kedah PKR chairperson Ahmad Kassim said Lim's choice as replacement for Mohd Radzhi was made following talks between the menteri besar and the PKR adviser.

He said Lim's choice was also based on geographical factor since Lunas was situated near Kulim.
