Ngemah state assemblyman Gabriel Adit Demong today denied that he was involved in forming a new political party.

"As of today, I am still a PKR member. But who knows (about) tomorrow?" he said when met by reporters here this evening where he had earlier held a closed-door meeting with about 40 supporters at a restaurant.

Malaysiakini has reported today that he was involved in the formation of the Pakatan Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) and that it would be launched here on Oct 15.

Adit said the reports that he was forming the PRM was news to him and added "it was good news".

"I am still with PKR. I am happy in PKR after joining it in Nov 16, last year. I have no quarrel with anyone in PKR as well," he said.

No comment

He, however, refused to comment if he would defend the seat on PKR ticket in the next state election.

On the closed-door meeting, he said it was a discussion with his close supporters who had supported him in the 2006 election.

"I intend to defend the Ngemah seat in the election which is rumoured to be held as early as November this year.

"We discussed strategies and preparations to win," he said.

Adit has won the rural Iban majority seat five times, four as a member of the now defunct Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak and in 2006 as an independent.
