The Perak state secretariat will once again be a no-go zone tomorrow as the police obtain a court order to prevent anyone from gathering within 50 metres of the building.

The building houses the state legislative assembly chambers where the tabling of the state budget by the Barisan Nasional state government is scheduled to take place tomorrow.

azlan Copies of the order, granted by magistrate Sharmila Abdul Samad, were pasted on lampposts within the vicinity of the building late this evening as police trucks were seen entering and taking up positions within the building compounds

The ex-parte injunction obtained by Ipoh district police chief Aziman Alias states that the court was convinced that a public gathering without a public permit would take place in conjunction with the state assembly sitting.

"The court finds that immediate action must be taken to prevent any action that would disrupt public peace, endanger public safety, riots or fights resulting from the gathering," read the order.

The court order will be in effect from 1am tomorrow until 11pm on Friday and is likely to affect two adjacent schools and numerous businesses nearby.

So far no groups have indicated that they would be gathering at the state assembly tomorrow.

In addition to the court order, the state secretariat building will be off-limits to most of its staff and members of the public tomorrow.

According to a memo issued by the state secretary, makeshift counters for various state departments and agencies would be set up at the Ipoh City Hall located nearby.

‘We're not involved'

In another development, Perak Barisan Nasional Backbenchers Club chairperson Nadzri Ismail claimed that he has received information that a group will pose as Umno Youth members and supporters of the government to stop opposition state representatives from participating in the state assembly sitting.

"I wish to stress that this uncivilised and uncouth behaviour is not in Umno's tradition or culture. I also urge the police to investigate this and take action," Nadzri said at a press conference held at the state Umno headquarters in Ipoh late this evening.

He said that during the May 7 state assembly sitting, Umno had not used any force on anyone and accused Pakatan Rakyat state representatives of being involved in "mental and physical" attacks.

"It is evident that we are not trapped in this culture that is practiced by PAS, PKR and DAP. We are educated with Umno and BN's culture which practices respect among one another," he added.

He also said that state Umno Youth chief Maslin Sham Razman has given his assurance that they will not participate in any activities to bar any state representatives from attending the sitting.

To a question, Nadzri did not reveal the source of this information. He also said that he had not lodge a police report on the matter.
