A strong protest is coming to news portal Malaysiakini's way for the story it published on PKR's secretary-general Salehuddin Hashim's ‘resignation' last night, warned the party's strategic director Tian Chua.

"He (Salehuddin) has clarified (that he did not resign) and we are sending a strong protest to Malaysiakini ," he told reporters in Parliament lobby today.

NONE Chua, who is also Batu parliamentarian, claimed that there was a "concerted effort in the media by certain forces" in "continuously creating and confusing news on the so-called internal problems of Pakatan Rakyat".

"My best guess is that it is to divert attention from the main issues that are happening in the country.

"As a result, we are not debating issues like the budget and urgent measures to save the economy, and corruption issues have suddenly fallen to the bottom of the headlines," he said.

Yesterday, Malaysiakini carried a news quoting Salehuddin that he had not resigned from his post. However sources maintained that the secretary-general had indeed sent a strongly-worded letter of resignation to the party leadership.

‘Get our reaction too'

PKR vice-president Sivarasa Rasiah meanwhile said that he will be sending note to Malaysiakini on that matter.

"It is important for all reporters have the responsibility to contact an appropriate person to confirm or respond to the news," he said.

The practice, he stressed, is "fundamental" as people need to know the other opinion in the same article.

"That is why we were quite shocked that something was published without coming back to the party," he said.
