MCA vice-president Liow Tiong Lai has urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to speed up and conclude the investigation into a graft allegation for which his wife was

questioned yesterday.

NONE Lee Sun Loo was questioned by the MACC for allegedly receiving a Toyota Alphard vehicle costing over RM500,000 as a birthday gift in January from a company which had won tenders for the Health Ministry's projects.

Liow slammed the allegation as politically motivated to ruin him and said that he was disappointed that his opponents had resorted to "attacking" his family members as well.

"I am very sad that it now involves my family. If the target is me and they want to hurt me, it's OK. Why involve my family?

NONE "This is unfair and I also want to know the truth as it is very important for me to clear my name and prove my innocence in this matter," he said when asked by reporters about the allegation after inspecting the Kampung Kerinchi 1Malaysia Clinic in Kuala Lumpur.

Asked whether it could be an insider's job, he said: "I don't want to speculate."

‘More will resign from CC’

On his bid to get eight more elected MCA central committee (CC) members to resign to meet the two-thirds majority needed to hold fresh party polls, Liow said he was confident about it but was mum on who his faction was lobbying to follow suit.

Yesterday, Liow and 12 others handed undated letters of resignation to party secretary-general Datuk Wong Foon Meng which will be rendered invalid if they cannot garner 21 resignations by the Dec 25 deadline.

He urged the other CC members to quit to prevent the party's crisis from becoming worse.

"I hope they see this as a responsibility. If they delay one more day, the party will suffer one more day. We need to resolve the leadership crisis through fresh polls," he said.
