The Teoh Beng Hock inquest will resume again on Jan 7 after it had been postponed twice following a delay in the pathologists' reports following a second autopsy conducted last month.

The new date - only a mention date - was confirmed today by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) legal director Abdul Razak Musa.

teoh 2nd autopsy 221109 peter vanezis He also said that the delay by the pathologists, especially in the case of British forensic pathologist Prof Peter Vanezis ( right ) who was appointed by the MACC, was due to the Sungai Buloh Hospital refusing to hand over Teoh's X-rays.

"Vanezis is stuck due to this. He can't finish his report. We have written to the hospital but they are demanding a coroner's order before they release the X-rays," he told Malaysiakini .

He added that Vanezis needed to see the X-rays to understand Teoh's body structure.

Abdul Razak was however unsure if Thai forensics specialist Dr Pornthip Rojansunand, engaged by the Selangor government, faced the same problem with the hospital.

Lawyer Gobind Singh, acting for the Teoh family, confirmed that Pornthip too had not completed her report.

Second post-mortem on Nov 22

azlan Yesterday Gobind informed the media that the inquest which was to have resumed today had to be adjourned again as the reports were not handed in to the coroner.

The inquest was originally supposed to resume on Dec 9 but was postponed to today for the same reason. The reports were due after a second post-mortem was conducted last month.

Teoh, 30, was found dead on the fifth floor corridor of Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam on July 16 after being questioned overnight at the Selangor MACC office, located on the 14th floor of the building.

During the inquest, forensics specialist Pornthip ( left ) had testified that the more likely cause of death was homicide, rather than suicide as indicated by the MACC.

Teoh's body was exhumed on Nov 21 after the coroner ordered a second post-mortem, which was carried out the next day by Sungai Buloh Hospital Pathology and Forensics Department chief Dr Shahidan Md Noor.

Pornthip , British forensic pathologist Prof Vanezis and local pathologists Dr Khairul Azman Ibrahim and Dr Prashant Naresh Samberkar were allowed to observe the process.
