Outspoken Kulim-Bandar Baru representative Zulkifli Noordin has been granted a reprieve by the PKR disciplinary board.

zulkifli noordin He was due to appear before the board last night but is currently in Korea, attending a conference with 12 other opposition parliamentarians since Wednesday and is scheduled to return to Malaysia on Feb 25.    

He has made many scathing attacks on the party and even claimed that there were ‘malicious attempts’ to remove him from the party.

“Zul ( left ) will be given a chance to defend himself,” said PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail when contacted this morning.

Many indiscretions

Saifuddin said the disciplinary board met briefly last night and decided to grant Zulkifli another chance to answer for his many indiscretions.

“The board has decided to reconvene another hearing on March 1,” added the Machang parliamentarian. 

“While Zul has been relentless in his attacks against the party, de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, senior party officials and even the disciplinary committee itself, the party still puts due process above all else. His case will be heard and considered based on facts and merit.”

i also contacted the party’s disciplinary board chairman Syed Kamaruzzaman Syed Kabeer who refused comment and referred Malaysiakini to Saifuddin instead.

Zulkifli had decried the scheduling of the disciplinary board’s hearing as he was scheduled to be in Korea on the proposed date.

However party officials faulted Zulkifli for not answering their summons and informing them if the dates stated were suitable for him.

It was understood that he was given five days to respond to their initial letter requesting his presence before them.
