It was chaos once more in the Perak legislative assembly this morning after a tame showing during the royal opening of the sitting yesterday.

NONE Pakatan Rakyat representatives, most of them dressed in black suits, rose to challenge the legitmacy of R Ganesan as the speaker, when the recitation of prayers ended shortly after 10am.

The public gallery was full and the media were again confined to viewing rooms above the chamber.

There was a police presence inside the building as well as in the state secretariat compound, but the roads were open.

11.00am: Ganesan's seven bodyguards, wearing light blue suits, approach Tai who is near Zambry and giving him an earful.

The sargeant-at-arms comes up to prevent them from touching Tai. Ngeh Khoo Ham (DAP-Setiawan) rushes over to Tai and yells at the bodyguards to leave, as they are not allowed inside the chamber, based on Standing Orders. Tai and Ngeh complete the Pakatan walkout.

Pakatan is holding a press conference. 

10.58am: Nizar leads a walkout, but Pakatan members take their time to follow. 

10.55am: The government continues to table a bill. Numerous Pakatan representatives are no longer in their seats, but milling around the assembly. 

NONE 10.50am: Ganesan announces that Question session has ended. The opposition bench rises in protest ( right ), pointing to the digital clock on the wall which reads 10.49am, signalling that the session has been shorter than the allocated one hour. 

10.42am: Yee Seu Kai (DAP-Pokok Assam) is given his turn to pose a question. Like Tai, he tries to allow Nga to raise a point of order and Ganesan moves to the next question. 

10.40am: Not given a chance to be heard, Pakatan representatives resort to flashing small placards with the words 'The world is watching', Pencuri (Thieves) and Penyamun (Robbers).

Nizar walks up to state assembly secretary's table and drops one of the posters there. No one stops him.

10.30am: Ganesan calls on Tai Sng Ng (PKR-Kuala Sepetang) to ask the third question.

Tai stands up and says he would like to give way to Nga Kor Ming (DAP-Pantai Remis) to raise a Standing Order.

Ganesan ignores the request. Pandemonium ensues.

Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin (PAS-Pasir Panjang) shouts angrily: "This is Standing Orders... what kind of speaker is this?"

Ganesan skips Tai's question and moves on to the next one on the list. Shouts from the Pakatan side die down after a while. 

NONE 10.15am: Zambry ( right ) begins answering oral questions. Numerous Pakatan representatives try to interject, holding up the book on Standing Orders, but their microphones are repeatedly turned off.

They are ignored.  

10.12am: MB Zambry Abd Kadir motions for a show of support for speaker. BN representatives stand up with a show of hands. Pakatan assemblypersons continue raising points of order, claiming that speaker is not conducting the sitting in accordance with rules.

NONE 10.10am:  Even before Ganesan is able to read the announcements, Pakatan representatives stand up to raise point of order to challenge his legitimacy as the speaker.

He ignores them and continues reading the announcements.
