Malay 1st, M'san 2nd: PM misses the point

vox populi big thumbnail 'I thought we have eliminated the columns indicating race (in all government forms) to avoid racism and move towards 1Malaysia. Why are the PM and DPM still talking about race?'

PM defends DPM over 'Malay 1st, M'san 2nd' remark

Chee Hoe Siew: Obviously Najib Razak failed to understand the importance of choice. Being Malay first, then the country means that Muhyiddin Yassin make sure the interest of his race comes first before the country. In cases where conflict between race over country, Muhyiddin will make sure policies would have to first benefit his race even though it may be damaging to his country.

He obviously also failed to understand the Chinese culture. Chinese has an inherent instinct to place country before race and is willing to sacrifice themselves for the country. Unfortunately this will not be the case of Muhyiddin when he is willing to sacrifice the whole country as long as it benefits his minority elite.

How can we even allow such a person without loyalty to the country to hold an important position? He has a tendency to betray the country, which is supposed to be a duty that he needs to uphold. I really can't see how such people can inspire others to love their country.

DontPlayGod: In any civilisation throughout history, it has always been country first, and others come after that (race, religion, cultures, etc). But here in Bolehland, and after decades of brainwashing by Umno's warlords, race, Ketuanan Melayu and special rights come first. So much for Najib's 1Malaysia.

Ferdtan: By putting race first before country does it tantamount to treason - disloyalty to the country? It will be if it utters by any Pakatan members especially from any people of the minority race.

Jessrb: Please correct me if I am wrong, I thought we have eliminated the columns indicating race (in all government forms) to avoid racism and move towards 1Malaysia. Why are the PM and DPM still talking about race?

BN to censure Anwar over 'One Israel' jibe

Kgen: What is wrong in saying that 1Malaysia is copied from One Israel? Whether it is true or not is another matter but is this a matter for disciplinary action? Next, Pakatan MPs will be disciplined for farting or sneezing. BN is shooting itself on the foot if it suspends Anwar. Keep behaving like tyrants, BN, a by-election is coming.

Geronimo: Now this is really a Catch-22 for Umno. If they allow DSAI (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) to go free, it would be akin to admitting that Umno committed a despicable act (from a Muslim standpoint) by associating itself with the Jews.

If they decide to take action, which they are going to, they will lose more support from the rakyat and I believe at this time, Hulu Selangor is already in Pakatan's bag.

I just can't understand this Umno fellas - why do they always keep shooting themselves in the feet? Good job, Najib. Keep on with what you are doing now till the next GE.

Alexander Yuan: Anwar has given ample proof that proves 1Malaysia is linked to One Israel. Even the proof is available online . And yet this clown says he has failed to furnish evidence? Nazri, you failed miserably as a lawyer.

Gov't procurement bidders required to sign anti-graft pledge

Sugumaran Rajaram: Intention may be good but unrealistic. It appears that by requiring bidders to pledge simply imply that the bidder is always the one giving. It makes no sense to me. Usually the lengthy procedures and 'unhelpful' officials are the one that encourages the bidder to give bribe (It is the signal when files move slowly, so and so is on leave, etc).

If all is done transparently with integrity and an attitude to help, then all things will work smoothly. However we know this is far from the reality. So Najib, your well-thought out move isn't going to work at all. Good try though.

SusahKes: I gotta a better idea. Why don't we get all the participants, ie bidders, contract awarders and officers to wear ‘Saya Anti Rasuah' badges? Didn't it work wonders for one group of civil servants?

Gunshot victim Norizan meets home minister

Ong Guan Sin: The rakyat can't help but wonder what was the original reason that Hishammuddin Hussein refused to meet Norizan Salleh in the first place. Plain arrogance? Or none-of-my-business attitude?

And to the DPP or whoever deciding that there was no case to pursue against the police, I pray very hard that none of your family members will ever fall victim to such police brutality. I do the same for mine. Yes, as long as it does not involve our loved ones, we can close one eye. Think again, and pray hard.

Multi Racial: This is what will happen if you put a party in power for too long. They are arrogance, proud, careless, irresponsible and alway think they are right. Even if it involved shooting an innocent person five times. They call it self-defense.

And all of them, regardless whether they are police, the Attorney-General's office or the home minister, they are united in covering this up.

MY2Centsworth: Norizan, it has been decided - you were at the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people. And the right people shot you - not once, not twice, not thrice, but five times. And you lived to tell the tale.
